Designer Makers Stall

Zeena Shah's Stall

Julia Potts's Stall

I have just held my first Christmas craft stall, as part of Designer Makers London, at Euston. I specially made for the stall bunting that spelt out: 'Cherry Christmas'. On the stall I put out some promotional cards for the shop Yarn Over, along with my own business cards. For sale were a range of items, dolls, cards, framed prints, broaches, gift bags. Also some of my sister's illustration cards.

One of the other stalls on the day, that I liked was Zeena Shah's. She is a printed textile designer. In the middle of her table she has a stand of cupcakes, pink and yellow cakes with glitter on top.
Another stall I particularly liked is Julia Potts illustration stall, her main imagery of bears, sold as prints, cushions & cards.

It was a good day, although there could of been more people come, but I think the cold weather deterred people. The organizer of the event was Cassie English, with her stall of lovely handmade cards. Hopefully in the future there will be more events with Cassie that I could be part of.

My First Stockist

My first stockist is the shop Yarn Over, with a selection of my christmas cards on the counter for sale. The website is www.yarnover.org.uk where you can buy lovely wool.

I have a passion for fabrics, wools and haberdashery bits, I could set up my own small shop with all my materials. I met Kirsty the shop owner of Yarn Over, the other weekend at a craft/farmers market. She is passionate about stich and bitch. On wednesday evenings there is a free meet ups in the shop where anyone is welcome to come along and bring their current knitting projects to do.

She has already twittered about me.
I also noticed her advertised in East magazine.

I planning to hold a possible class at Yarn Over, where I will teach how to make your own plush, in the new year.

Selfridges Christmas Window Display

Cinderella
Cinderella - The Ugly Sisters Going To The Ball
Peter Pan
Dick Whittington
Little Red Riding Hood

Little Red Riding Hood - To Grandma's Signpost
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

Snow White - The Queen Who's The Fairest of Them All?

This year and last I feel Selfridges's christmas window display are the best in London. Each window is a different fairytale, such as Jack and the Beanstalk, with the beanstalk made out of denim. Each window has typography in neon lightbulbs, with playful messgaes from the fairytales.

The theme follows instore with oversized hanging baubles from the celling, with the same messages enscribed on top. In greens and reds, and sparkly.

End of Immersion Course at Central Saint Martins.

This week was the end of the course Immersion, I have been on for 3 months at Central Saint Martins. It is a professional development course, teaching about how to be a professional creative. Undestanding the business side as well as creating art.

The group photograph is outside the front of Central Saint Martins. I'm in the red knitted hat and the fur coat. All the people on the course are graduates from different creative displines. Such as cermaics, textiles, set design, photography, graphic design, and of course myself fashion promotion. I learnt a lot about myself, from the sessions which questioned myself. I also met a wonderful set of people. I wish to keep in contact with quite a few people, with possible collarborations in the future in the new year.

Harvey Nichols Christmas Window Display

The Harvey Nichols christmas window display, for this year consists of feathers and glitter. Manipulating the mannequins, with these materials. The mannequins are framed around the entrance of the main doorway, with folliage. I particularly like the mens hairstyles.

The instore display area around the escalators, is turquoise mannequins that look ice cold. With big fluffy hairstyles in red, black and white. With made up faces, kind of like black warrior paint with glitter around the eyes. All the mannequins are dressed up, in the latest chrsitmas outfits, with lots of sequins. The mannequins are emphasised by a backdrop of gold swirls and fairy lights. With gold leaf paper, pasted on the surrounding wall areas. Making the mannequins appear to jump out at you.
