PRESS RELEASE

Issued: (June 2010) For Immediate Release

At Pulse London 2010 textile artist and fashion illustrator Cherry Hurren, is proud to present a new collection: Cherry Doll cushions. A new product, inspired from the Cherry Dolls, as seen in Harvey Nichols. The cushions are intended to be stocked in boutique shops. Different types of products Hurren makes to commission are Cherry Dolls, cards, paintings, illustrations and the new range of cushions.

The Cherry Doll cushions are unique, as the dolls are inspired by current and future fashion trends. The Cherry Dolls were created in 2009 Hurren’s original designs were spotted by Harvey Nichols head of display. Who commissioned Hurren to create 24 life size dolls for an in-store retail display. The dolls have been displayed, since September 2009, within Harvey Nichols stores across the country. The display is currently in the Edinburgh store. Hurren has had numerous displays this year, including a exhibition at the Trafalgar Square Hilton Hotel, and a window display at the Hospital Club, Covent Garden for Fashion Week February 2010.

‘ Cherry Hurren's fashion dolls - 12 trends as done by 12 designers, translated into the most fashionable of fabric dolls - caught our eye.’ Jessica Bumpus, Vogue.com

‘ Around the escalators in store (Harvey Nichols Knightsbridge), a catwalk front row has been constructed using simple illustrations and giant, hand made rag dolls dressed in designer outfits. Each doll has her own strong personality; each being made from different printed fabric, sculpted woolly hair, super-sized buttons for eyes and hand-stitched noses and mouths’. Amanda Carr, WGSN Trend Newsletter

‘We loved the London Fashion Week installation at The Hospital Club. Fashion craft designer Cherry Hurren individually knitted the dolls, hand-picking their spring/summer outfits especially for Fashion Week.’ 25 February, 2010 Vogue.com Blog
